3rd Pa amb Oli – Son Mesquidassa Contest
David Maties from Sóller is the author of ‘El Millor Pa amb oli Olives Rosselló’ of 2024.
This Saturday, April 20, 2024, David Maties won the ‘Best Bread with Olive Oil Olives Rosselló’ contest. His proposal prevailed over the fifteen finalists in a closely contested competition, held at the Son Mesquidassa mill.
The contest, which took place today, already has a winner for its third edition. David Maties, a resident of Sóller, surprised everyone with his exceptional creation of bread with olive oil made from confited artichokes, black pork jowl, and romesco sauce with Mallorcan almonds that conquered the palates of the judges and won the title.
The jury, composed of notable personalities such as Joan Ramis, manager of Olives Rosselló and Oli Balle; Juan Alcaide, manager of Son Mesquidassa; Guillem Reynès, winner of the previous edition; and Tomeu Penya, renowned singer-songwriter and gastronomy expert, awarded Maties’ proposal. Additionally, the creations of Anna Petrillo from Palma, who came in second place, and Victoria Pou from Sóller, who came in third place, were also highlighted.
This contest, organized by Olives Rosselló, Son Mesquidassa, and Oli Balle, aims to promote the Mediterranean diet and encourage the consumption of local products.
